Working Principle
- Self-falling Mixing Principle: Most drum mixers are of the self-falling type, and arc-shaped blades are welded on the inner wall of the mixing drum. When the mixing drum rotates around the horizontal axis, the blades lift the materials to a certain height. The materials freely fall due to gravity and interpenetrate, turn over, and mix with other materials in the drum, thus achieving uniform mixing.
- Forced Mixing Principle: Some new-type drum mixers adopt the forced mixing method. Forced mixing devices such as mixing arms and mixing blades are installed in the drum. Through the rotation of the mixing arms and blades, forced shearing, squeezing, and mixing forces are applied to the materials, enabling the materials to achieve uniform mixing in a relatively short time.
Features
- Advantages: It has a simple structure, is easy to operate, and has a low maintenance cost. It is suitable for mixing plastic and semi-plastic concretes and has strong adaptability to the particle size of aggregates. The self-falling drum mixer has relatively low energy consumption.
- Disadvantages: The mixing efficiency is relatively low, and the mixing time is relatively long. For dry-hard concretes, etc., its mixing uniformity is not as good as that of the forced mixer. It has a relatively large volume and is not very flexible to move.

Structural Composition

- Feeding Device: Commonly used ones include hoppers and conveyor belts, which are used to transport raw materials such as sand, gravel, and cement into the mixing drum.
- Discharging Device: Generally located below or on the side of the mixing drum, it is composed of components such as the discharge port and the discharge door, which control the discharging speed and quantity of the concrete.
- Supporting Device: It is composed of components such as the support frame and the supporting rollers, which support the weight of the mixing drum and ensure the stable rotation of the mixing drum.

- Discharging Capacity: That is, the volume of concrete that the mixing drum can unload each time after mixing is completed, such as 300L, 350L, 500L, etc.
- Productivity: It represents the volume of concrete that the mixer can produce per unit time. For small-sized ones, it may be 7-10 cubic meters per hour, and for large-sized ones, it can reach 20-30 cubic meters per hour. For example, the productivity of the JDC500 is 20-30 cubic meters per hour.
Mixing Parameters
- Mixing Drum Rotation Speed: Generally, it is 14-25r/min. For example, the mixing drum rotation speed of the JZC350 is 14r/min, and the mixing shaft rotation speed of the JDC500 is 25r/min.
- Mixing Time: Self-falling drum mixers usually take 35-45 seconds of mixing to achieve homogeneous concrete.
Power Parameters
- Mixing Motor Power: It ranges from 3kw to 18.5kw. For example, the mixer motor of the JBJ10741 is 3kw, and the mixing motor power of the JDC500 is 18.5kw.
- Hoisting Motor Power: Common values are 4.5kw, 5.5kw, etc. For example, the hoisting motor power of the JDC350 is 4.5kw.
Size and Weight Parameters
- Overall Dimensions: There are significant differences among different models. For example, the dimensions of the JZC350 are 2765×2140×3000mm, and the dimensions of the JDC500 are 4330×2700×5000mm.
- Total Machine Weight: Small-sized ones may weigh several hundred kilograms, and large-sized ones can reach several tons. For instance, the JZC350 weighs 1950kg, and the JDC500 weighs 3700kg.

- Maximum Aggregate Particle Size: Generally, it is 60mm, and for some models, it can reach 80mm.
